Surprise! How to Plan a Surprise Party at Home in Just 4 Steps

February 22, 2021 by Gigi Leave a Comment

Do you want to plan a surprise party for a friend or family member? A surprise party is a perfect way to make a loved one’s special day unforgettable.

However, planning a surprise party can seem a little daunting especially if you’ve never done it before. One of the biggest problems you will encounter is keeping the party a secret.

In order to pull off such a big surprise, you are going to need to be strategic about it. Here are some tips to help you make the party a reality.

1. Keeping a Surprise Party a Secret

The biggest threat to your surprise party is people giving away the secret. To avoid this make sure every guest knows that it is a surprise party.

Let your guests know that they will need to arrive early. Ideally, they should arrive at least half an hour before the party begins so that everybody can be in a good hiding spot.

2. Get Some to Help to Plan a Surprise Party

One of the best ways to ensure that you actually pull off the surprise is to get an accomplice. This person’s job is to distract the person for whom you are throwing the surprise party.

They can make plans with them to do something in order to pass the time while you prepare and get everybody into position for the surprise. Your accomplice’s job is also to get the person home at the correct time.

Needless to say, this requires a lot of communication between you and your accomplice.

3. Get a Theme

Planning a theme for the party makes it easier to decorate. You can choose balloons, banners, and streamers that will tie in with your theme.

If you are planning a costume party make sure that your guest of honor has an outfit ready for them when they arrive.

4. Food and Drink

Use folding tables to lay out all the food. You can get folding tables online at EventStable.

Make sure you have snacks available so that your guests can munch on these until the main course is ready. You may have to plan ahead for your guests when it comes to snacking and the menu.

Find out if some of them have food allergies or dietary restrictions. You want to make sure that nobody feels left out.

The next thing you have to do is order the cake. Since the surprise party is being kept at home this may make it a little more difficult to make the cake yourself.

However, if you can get somebody else to make it and bring it to the party then go ahead and do that. Otherwise ordering it just makes more sense and will help you to keep the surprise a secret.

Time to Party

When you plan a surprise party one of the most important parts of the entire plan is keeping the party a secret. Depending on the personality of the person you are trying to surprise keeping a secret can be easy or hard.

Make sure that everybody knows that the party is a surprise and get someone to help you pull it off. If you would like more informative tips, please visit the house section of the website.
